Becoming a Global Citizen

The good news is that anyone willing to make an effort can become culturally agile, or culturally competent. There are three steps: Acquire a global outlook, use cultural skills in business, and practice being a global citizen. Basically this means learning about, interacting with and understanding the culturally diverse groups and organizations you work with. Many large companies help this process by providing training and practice sessions. However, a do-it-yourself mindset is most important.

Taking the initiative to learn about yourself and your colleagues will help you reach the level of cultural agility you need to work and function in a different culture, thus, becoming a global citizen.
